DAV CENTENARY PUBLIC SCHOOL,NABHA CELEBRATED NATIONAL MATHEMATICS DAY

On the auspicious occasion of National Mathematics Day and to commemorate Srinivasa Ramanujan, famous Indian Mathematician on his birth anniversary, DAV Cent. Public School inaugurated Ramanujan Mathematics lab on Dec. 21, 2019 in the senior wing of the school under the dynamic leadership of the honorable Principal Dr. Meena Mehta. Mr. Rajinder Sharma, Superintendent Grade-I, DC Office, Sangrur was invited as the chief guest of this event. He was welcomed with bouquet by the worthy Principal and the students. He inaugurated the Maths lab by cutting the ribbon and also interacted with the students. He appreciated the efforts of the students who made excellent models on various topics of Maths.

The honourable Principal congratulated and blessed Maths faculty and motivated the students for their keen interest in this subject. She emphasized that the aim of Mathematics Laboratory is an innovative step to make mathematics — a fun to learn and easy to grasp subject. Mathematics plays a dominant role in one’s life, therefore the purpose of this Mathematics Lab is to help students in application of mathematical concepts in real life situations.

In the junior wing  the birthday of Shri Srinivasa Ramanujan is  also celebrated , the great mathematical genius who made exemplary contribution to Mathematics under the vigilant guidance of our visionary and honourable Principal Dr Meena Mehta.The Mathematics day was celebrated with the objective of creating awareness about importance of mathematics in day to day life and also to create students' interest in studying  Mathematics.In the morning assembly the students enjoyed a lot by doing an activity on even and odd numbers as well as on ascending and descending order. Then this auspicious occasion was further celebrated with scintillating dance performance by UKG on shapes and Class Ist students on how to remove math's phobia.Then skit by Class 2 was showcased in which students  displayed about the importance of maths in our lives.Another play on even and odd numbers was performed by Class II. A poem was also recited by the students of class I .After that Maths quiz was conducted in which students of Classes III to V participated. The quiz was divided into three rounds: Rapid fire round, buzzer round and problem solving round. After the quiz Ms Triveni emphasised about the significance of time in mathematics. Questions were also asked to audience. The students participated in the above programmes with great zeal and enthusiasm and enjoyed the programmes.

Respected Principal Dr Meena Mehta, also motivated the students in junior wing to learn from the life of Shri Ramanujan that with limited resources he had achieved great reputation and became an example for the whole world.A pledge was also taken by the students on not to cram Maths but to understand its concepts.She further encouraged the students to participate in such activities in future as well.
