DAV Centenary Public School, Nabha organised a Two Day Capacity Building Programme on the theme 'Classroom Management' under the guidance of worthy Principal Dr. Meena Mehta on 14 and 15 September, 2019. The resource person of the event was Mr. Vivek Tiwari, the Principal of DAV Public School, Bhupindra Road, Patiala. In this workshop 35 teachers from different CBSE schools of Patiala , Sangrur, Barnala distt. participated. The main motto of the workshop was to adopt various Classroom Management techniques to make the teaching and learning process more effective. One of the most important challenges for a teacher is to manage time and planning. Emphasis on experiential learning was there to enable the children to have better understanding of the concept. The teachers were encouraged to adopt effective teaching learning techniques . The experienced resource persons beautifully explained that management of the student-teacher relationship is the cornerstone of classroom management. If a teacher has a good relationship with students then students readily accept the rules and procedures. The importance of building a rapport with the children was also discussed. Constructive approach should be emphasized. It was an interactive workshop where all the teachers participated enthusiastically and sought answers to the queries from the experts. On the second day of the workshop classroom rules, procedures and routines were discussed. A variety of handouts were given to the trainee teachers. Consequences and Rewards ,feedback, reinforcement are the important expects for managing the behavior of students effectively in the classrooms. Different strategies were told to inculcate self motivation in the students. Teachers should promote positive peer relationships in the classrooms and they should communicate effectively with the parents. Different techniques to manage the classes with large number of students were also discussed. In the end of the workshop Principal Dr. Meena Mehta presented a vote of thanks to the resource person and conveyed a message to the trainee teachers that they should adopt these efficient techniques in their teaching- learning process for the better outcome.
