Capacity Building Programme in Mathematics For             

Primary and Secondary Teachers

(Two Days Workshop)

(4^th and 5^th June,2019)

Workshop on Capacity Building Programme in Mathematics for Primary and Secondary teachers was conducted at DAV Centenary Public School, Nabha  on 4^th and 5^th June,2019. Total 31 participants from different DAV Schools attended the workshop. Dr. Meena Mehta, Cluster head of DAV Schools Patiala Zone and Principal of DAV Nabha welcomed the participants with her motivational words. She told all the participant teachers that creativity and innovation is needed while imparting mathematics to remove monotony in this subject. 

The Resource Persons for Primary workshop were Ms. Gurpreet Kaur and Ms. Tejinder Kaurfrom DAV School, Patiala.The first session was conducted by Ms.Gurpreet Kaur. Through PPTs, she explained how Art Integration can be implemented in Mathematics. It was acitivity oriented session. The second session was taken over by Ms.Gurpreet Kaur.She explained how to teach Angles and Number Names effectively with examples.

The third session was conducted by Ms.Tejinder Kaur. She discussed how to handle slow and gifted learners.There were Group Discussions among the participant teachers on how to handle the slow learners in the classrooms. In the fourth session, Effective Classroom Management Strategies and Notebook correction work for teachers were discussed in detail. In the fifth session, techniques were discussed for educating parents to tackle their children patiently.

On 5^th June, The first session was commenced by Ms. Tejinder Kaur. It was on “Activity Based Learning”. All the participant teachers took part actively in all the activities. She showed a video on “Converting weakness into strength.”  

At Secondary level, Ms. Monika Bhanot, Mr. Vishal Sharma and Mr. Pankaj Sharma were the Resource Persons. Ms. Monika Bhanot conducted the first session in which she introduced Art Integration and explained how it can be implemented in Mathematics. Mr. Vishal Sharma and Mr.Pankaj Sharma  took the second session on “Rational numbers.” They also discussed the blue print of question paper of  class X.The last session was continued by Ms. Monika. She explained how Art Integration will help the students to be  more creative.

On 5^th June, Mr. Pankaj Sharma explained the tips how to check the notebooks . Then Mr Vishal Sharma discussed about Square Roots.Ms. Monika explained the strategies for slow learners through PPT. Then all the participant teachers demonstrated their presentations on different topics of Mathematics.

Teachers from various schools interacted, shared their methodology with each other and participated enthusiastically.Through demonstrations, presentations and interactive discussions , various concepts of Mathematics were cleared.

At last, feedback forms were filled up by all the teachers and a message was also conveyed to each and every teacher that they should implement these teaching learning techniques in their classrooms so that students can get desirable results.
