TEEJ CELEBRATIONS IN DAV NABHA

D.A.V. Cent. Public School Nabha organizes a week -long celebration of Teej festival from Monday August 6 to August 13,2018 under the kind and able guidance of our worthy Principal Miss Meena Mehta. On 6th and 7th August, speeches on Teej festival were delivered by students of different classes in the morning assembly. An open quiz was followed on the same. Students actively participated in it. In this way, their listening skills about the culture were developed.
On 8th August Inter House Competitions were organized. It was Heena competition and display of Teej festive food delicacies competition. The school Principal Miss Meena Mehta was the Chief Guest of the day. Four students from each house participated in heena competition and six students from each house participated in display of food which comprised of snacks and savouries like dhoklas, gulgulas and pakodas, desserts like kheer, malpuas, ghevar and bevarge like lassi . The girls applied heena on the palms of other girls. They decorated beautiful designs on their palms. Four food stalls were artistically displayed which were purely homemade, cultural and traditional. The sumptuous savouries and delicacies added to the flavour of this festivity. These dishes were according to the Rainy Season and Teej,which mark the arrival of Teej festival. It was a beautiful display of antique and traditional utensils, modern crockery and earthern utensils. The participants served the food to judges. They relished the food and asked them about the recipes and its preparation. 
The school Principal Miss Meena Mehta keenly observed all the students who were applying heena on the palms of other girls. She appreciated the competitors for their artistic presentation. She visited all the food stalls along with judges. She asked about the recipes of their dishes and ingredients to see whether they have helped their parents in this preparation at home. The judgement of these events was done by Mrs. Gurjeet Bakshi, Mrs. Nisha Sharma and Mrs. Priyanka Kapoor. In the end, the Principal advised the students to take interest while their mother cooks such delicious traditional food in the kitchen. She said that they must know what the recipe of each dish is. They should know the importance of antique objects. She blessed and encouraged all the students for their participation in Teej celebrations.
